Florence, Italy

Florence at the weekend – wonderful weather, but much busier than I remembered it. We stayed at the  Hotel Pitti Palace al Ponte Vecchio, http://www.florencehotelpittipalacealpontevecchio.com/en, just metres from the famous bridge. The main attractions were extremely busy, & having been before we gave these a miss. There was a tiny queue at the Santa Croce Church – great value at 8 euros to see the tombs of Michelangelo & Galileo, (https://www.visitflorence.com/florence-churches/santa-croce.html). The art in the church is awe-inspiring & the story of the 1966 flood is fascinating. I love colour – & am drawn to stained glass. The copy of David in the Piazza Michelangelo was fantastic against the clear blue sky – & I preferred it to the copy outside the Palazzo Vecchio. Plus the views across the city are stunning. The Pitti Palace & its Gardens, http://www.florenceartmuseums.com/pitti-palace/, were less busy. But as this is an upholstery website, I’ve included an image of a chaise longue from one of the rooms. Guess the ‘man-hours’ in producing this piece would be a good competition! Now …… back to work!
